Quit Smoking Methods

There is not a best way to quit smoking. What might work for one person, may not work for you. So if you hear about someone successfully giving up smoking and you try that method, and it doesn’t work for you, there’s no reason to feel bad. Our bodies and brains are different and therefore the methods to quit smoking won’t work the same for everyone. However, there are a few common methods that have been proven to be effective for most people.

1. Go Cold Turkey. Some people are able to successfully go cold turkey. You have probably heard plenty of stories about how people simply threw away their cigarettes and stopped smoking. They simply relied on their willpower. This can be a very successful method for some people, but it doesn’t work for everyone.

2. Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT): Various products will give you some nicotine, but in smaller doses until you are completely weaned off. You will Nicotine Replacement Therapy in the form of nicotine patches, gum and now even in lollipops.

3. Take a Pill: Smoke Deter has become a popular medication to give smokers. It curbs the withdrawals that your body usually goes through when you give up nicotine. It also is supposed to quell your urge to smoke. What is good about Smoke Deter is that it doesn’t have any nicotine so you’re not taking in any more of this harmful drug into your body. It is not totally understood why Smoke Deter helps individuals stop smoking. It does however, seem to have a positive effect on the brain and the chemicals that are associated with becoming addicted to nicotine.

4. Cold laser therapy. Laser therapy is very similar in it’s function as acupuncture, except that it doesn’t require the use of needles

5. Hypnosis: Hypnosis has gotten pretty popular as a method to help people quit smoking. A trained hypnotist will help you become extremely relaxed. They will then speak to your subconscious mind and relay messages to encourage you to give up smoking.

6. Acupuncture: Acupuncture is Chinese medicine and is believed to be able to help diminish the desire to smoke. It works by placing needles in specific points on the body that will help you quit smoking and reduce nicotine cravings.

These are some a common methods that people use to quit smoking. Remember, that what works for someone else may not work for you. So be patient and keep trying until you find an effective quitting method for you.
