Quit Smoking Stories
Many people have been encouraged to stop smoking after someone that they loved or admired either was diagnosed or succumbed to a smoke-related disease. Hundreds of thousands of people die each year from illnesses caused directly or indirectly (secondhand smoking) by smoking. Other people have decided to stop smoking for monetary reasons, while still others believed that having a healthy baby was more important then lighting up.
Here are some of their stories:
My best friend John K. story. He was a heavy smoker just like his father and brother. The only member of his family that didn’t smoke was his mom, the sweet Maria. John decided to quit smoking when his mother at age of 53 years old was diagnosed with lung cancer. She wasn’t a smoker but John’s dad, her husband was. They watched as she slowly wasted away from a disease that wasn’t her doing. I was shocked by the death of my best friend’s mother and this was the stimulant for this web site creation. After their mom died, John and his brother decided right then and there to give up smoking for good. They had family’s of their own and didn’t want them to suffer the way that there mom had.
“I kick it away cause I wanted to have a baby” My name is Julia P. and I married Michael when I was 26 years old. I have been a smoker for the past 9 years. We desperately wanted a baby and we understood well, the negative impact that smoking would have on the baby growing inside of me. So I set a quit date and then went cold turkey. We begin attempting to have a baby and I was successfully pregnant 3 months later. My baby is now 3 years old, my whole life changed and I never went back to smoking.
“It is difficult to quit, but it is more difficult to go smokefree” My name is Frank and I smoked since I was 14 years old. As I was getting old and I was getting tired of shelling out my money for this terrible habit and my wife and kids hated the smell of his cigarette smoke on my clothes, car and my breath. They were pressuring me to quit for years and finally I decided to go cold turkey. That lasted for an entire three days (lol). I thought that I needed some help so I tried nicotine therapy replacement. After 3 weeks I had to stop the therapy cause it didn’t work for me. I got nervous and sick of failing. Then I decided to see a doctor. My doctor prescribed Zyban and suggested me he go to counseling. I followed his advice and have been smoke free for 6 months. Now I feel much better physically, I have more energy and can breath well. Unfortunately I am still tempting to start smoking again…
